Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, Bowmore is the first recorded distillery on Islay and one of the oldest in the whole of Scotland. Islay malts are renowned for their peaty smokiness and Bowmore is no exception. Bowmore carefully smokes its malt in a peat-fired kiln, just as its ancestors did over 200 years ago
Bowmore Legend single malt
One of Bowmore’s best-liked whiskies, and one that has also found favour with the judges of industry awards. One the nose, you’ll detect the distinctive Bowmore smoky peat, together with a slight waft of fresh sea air. On the palate, look out for the bold, zesty lemon and a touch of honey. To be sampled on its own at any time, with food, with friends, but always with enjoyment.
Bowmore 12 YO single malt
Great whisky writer Michael Jackson proclaimed it “remarkably long and complex’. The colour is warm amber, and on the nose you’ll pick up the trademark Bowmore peaty smokiness, along with subtle notes of lemon, honey and chocolate.
Bowmore 15 YO Darkest single malt
The distinctive burnt sienna hue is the result of a life spent maturing in American bourbon casks, followed by oloroso sherry oak casks. Paul Pacult from The Spirit Journal calls it “a clinic on how to finish a malt sherry casks” and it has picked up numerous official accolades.
Bowmore 18 YO single malt
Mellow mahogany in appearance, this is one of the finest malts of its kind, a long, well-balanced and wonderful dram. Matured in oak casks for over 18 years, the classic Bowmore smokiness is perfectly tempered with creamy caramel, chocolate and ripe fruit aromas. It’s delightful on its own, or matched with a rich dessert.
