Malibu is made on the island of Barbados with carribean rums. Rums from this region are more delicately flavoured than other rums, with subtle sugar cane and soft butter rum notes – the perfect base to blend with other tropical flavours, such as coconut, pineapple, mango, passion fruit or tropical banana.

Malibu is produced using a powerful combination of traditional skills and modern technology.

The first step in creating Malibu begins with extracting molasses from sugar cane. Molasses is a by-product of the sugar-manufacturing process (it is what remains after sugar cane juice has been heated to produce raw brown sugar).

This syrup is mixed with water and yeast, and it ferments into alcohol. The fermented molasses is distilled three times in specially designed column stills at the world-renowned West Indies Rum Distillery, etablished in 1893.

The resulting light-bodied, smooth, white rum is then blended with natural coconut extract and sugar to produce the world’s well known coconut-flavoured rum.

Finally, this fragrant, clear liquid is packaged in its distinctive white bottle featuring palm trees and the Caribbean sun.
